What business and technical challenges are you trying to overcome with IMail Server?

Open Relays and increasing volumes of Spam (Junk Email)

What led the company to seek out this solution?

When we started hosting websites we initially started out with a freeware email server. Unfortunately we had spammers relaying email through us like crazy. When we switched to IMail Server, this problem went away virtually overnight. The next problem was receiving spam, and IMail Server 8.0 has solved these problems for our customers and us.

Why did you select IMail Server?

I teach part time at a local technical college and I have always recommended WS_FTP LE to all my students. When we were searching for an alternate mail server and Ipswitch came up at a reasonable price, we knew we found our solution.

We have around three dozen domains located in several cities around the Vancouver BC area, with different needs and requirements. Finding a solution that works for everyone was quite the challenge.

What are the strengths of IMail Server?

All of the Ipswitch products I have used have a nice user friendly interface, and are stable and reliable products. Powerful features are also available for the experienced user.

How will this application of IMail Server contribute to your company’s overall business and operational effectiveness?

We host many different kinds of clients including churches, women’s centers, and travel agencies. Finding an anti-spam solution that would reliably deliver their true emails, and catch as much junk as possible was a tough job.

What are the significant benefits from implementing IMail Server?

Our company focuses on quality. IMail Server is a quality product that virtually runs itself. New domains are setup in minutes. Maintaining accounts is so fast and easy our customers don’t have to wait for changes, we can manage our customers accounts in real-time while they are on the phone with us.

What do you see as the three most important benefits you’re getting from IMail Server?

  • Anti-Spam Filtering, is a great selling feature to our customers, but also a big time saver for us.
  • Web Mail makes it easy for our customers to manage their own accounts through the web, and send & receive email when they are not at home.
  • Reliability. Our server runs for months on end without needing to be restarted. Restarts are usually from upgrading other products.

Describe an example or situation that demonstrates these benefits.

The travel agent requires a spam solution that allows them to receive all travel emails, regardless that most spam-filters block them. This was an interesting challenge, but IMail Server had the features to do it.

Our business has increased since we installed the latest upgrades.
